Secure Web Gateway Overview

Consider This

The World Wide Web (WWW) enables us to improve communication, erase physical barriers, and expand our education. Its absorption into our society has been extraordinary. There is hardly an organization today for which usage of the WWW is not an everyday activity for conducting business. Business users are researching, procuring products and services, making travel arrangements, or reading about current events. The WWW has become a business critical resource throughout the world. Security professionals and business managers struggle to properly secure digital assets and intellectual property (IP) from the dangers of the WWW and provide users with access to legitimate business activity and online resources.

During the past three years there have been hundreds of reported identity theft and digital asset crimes reported to law enforcement.  These cases involved public and private organizations of all sizes and industries, such as Universities, Tax Authorities, Fortune 1000 companies and medical facilities.  The numbers of individuals whose identity may have been comprised is unknown!  Identity theft is running rampant as criminals seek to fraudulently obtain credit cards under the names of honest citizens.  Identity theft costs consumers and businesses nearly $60 billion per year in the US alone.  New laws aimed at reducing the impact of identity theft are being enacted that require companies to notify consumers in the event of a data breach, as well as to take actions to prevent further losses.  No two security threats are exactly alike.  Today attacks can come from all sides, it's important to understand that different threats call for different layers of security.  After all, you wouldn't try to kill an elephant with a peashooter, would you?

Relevance

Security is too important an issue to address piecemeal. Develop an integrated and layered approach to ensure you're combating all security problems, both large and small, with the right tools. Gartner, the worlds leading information technology research and advisory company, has stated that “Signature based anti-virus software is dying – we need Behavior based interception”. Finjan is a pioneer and leader in the behavior-based security domain with 20 granted and 24 pending patents. Gartner has placed Finjan in the Visionaries Quadrant of its 2007 Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateway because it has distinguished itself by technical and product innovation.

Advantages

Companies have a legal obligation to ensure that they have taken due care in protecting information assets. Not having a Security Web Gateway (SWG) is a sure-fire way of failing to meet the due care requirement. Utilizing Finjan patented behavior based SWG solutions will:

Maximize user WWW experience and safety
Protect valuable corporate digital assets
Increased employee productivity
Prevent new and previously unknown viruses, Spyware, malicious code and complex attacks, leading to a significant increase in ROI from your security investment.
Increase knowledge and awareness of the content entering your organization.
Minimize downtime and cleanup/helpdesk costs related to malware incidents.
